Easy Microwave Protein Brownie

This microwave protein brownie is packed with around 25 grams of protein! All you need is a handful of ingredients and about 60 seconds to make this easy treat or post-workout snack!

Meal preparation is crucial when following a healthy diet. Having food ready to eat helps you make smarter choices in the moment. But what if you’re craving something sweet and want to enjoy a dessert?

That’s where this easy microwave protein brownie can help. In the sections below I’m going to walk you through how to make two different flavors: classic chocolate and peanut butter.

The best part is, these brownies can be made in the microwave – so you don’t have to worry about turning on the oven. And each brownie has plenty of protein to help keep you feeling full and satisfied.

Microwave Protein Brownie Ingredients

Both recipes are very similar, with the exception of a few substitutions. For the classic chocolate microwave protein brownie you will need the following:

  • 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp sweetener
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 75g plain Greek yogurt
  • 1oz egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

If you’re making the peanut butter microwave protein brownie, you will need the following:

  • 1/2 scoop peanut butter protein powder
  • 1 tbsp powdered peanut butter
  • 2 tsp sweetener
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 75g plain Greek yogurt
  • 1oz egg whites

Kitchen Tools You Need

Hopefully you have a microwave and a microwave safe dish for this recipe. A whisk isn’t required, but it helps remove any clumps before cooking. A food scale also makes measuring ingredients much easier.

The following sizes are required for measuring the ingredients in this recipe: 1/2 tsp, 1 tsp, and 1 tbsp. When it comes to measuring egg whites, just know that 2 tbsp makes 1 fluid ounce.

Step-by-step Instructions

Combine protein powder, cocoa powder (or powdered peanut butter for the peanut butter brownies), sweetener, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl.

Use a whisk to mix all of the dry ingredients together, until no clumps remain. Then add Greek yogurt, egg whites, and vanilla extract. Omit the vanilla extract for the peanut butter brownies.

Stir everything around with a spatula and transfer the batter to a microwave safe dish sprayed with non-stick cooking oil. Microwave on high for 20 second intervals, until the brownie reaches your desired consistency.

This usually takes around 60 seconds, depending on your microwave. The good news is there are no raw ingredients, so you don’t have to worry about undercooking the brownies. You could even eat the batter on its own.

Additional Toppings

You can always enjoy this microwave protein brownie on its own. But if you want to add toppings, consider using chocolate chips for a rich and sweet flavor. Here’s a list of some additional toppings you can use.

  • Chocolate chips
  • Fruit
  • Peanut butter chips
  • Nuts
  • Whipped cream
  • Biscoff cookie butter
  • Peanut butter or powdered peanut butter
